Read more with book boxes

In many districts, artists have worked with children to design and install book boxes. So that books are easier to find.

A cupboard stands outside in a square. It is painted apricot and decorated with colorful handprints. There are books in the cupboard.

The colourful and cheerful bookcases and book boxes have been designed by children together with artists over several years as part of the city's "Beautiful Holidays" vacation program. There are now 9 pieces distributed throughout the city.

The principle is simple: you put books in a cupboard and take others with you. Of course, you can also just borrow or swap books. Use is free of charge.

Local sponsors look after the boxes. Sometimes they are private individuals, sometimes they are children's groups from neighboring facilities. The maintenance and regular filling with children's books is coordinated by the Youth Work Department of the Office for Social Work.

The book boxes also offer many opportunities to provide children with targeted offers on literature and language or languages.
