Maral Koohestanian
Head of Department for Smart City, Europe and Order
"Global challenges need global solutions - but local implementation. As economic, cultural, political and social centers, cities are an essential part of creating livable and modern living spaces."
I have been your Head of Smart City, Europe and Public Order since July 1, 2023. As a convinced European, I am now very pleased to place and promote European issues in Wiesbaden. We very often overlook how deeply Europe is anchored in our everyday lives, even though we encounter it all the time. My aim is therefore to make these points of contact more visible and to raise our awareness of the benefits we enjoy every day in the EU. By bringing Europe and our shared values to life, we are also creating a public space in which we can discuss current issues and the need for action in the EU and shape Europe from a local level.
As head of department, I therefore primarily define the main guidelines for our European work. How can we make Europe tangible for our citizens in Wiesbaden? What European initiatives, projects and networks are there in which Wiesbaden can participate and contribute as a city? And vice versa: What can Europe learn from Wiesbaden? How is Wiesbaden perceived and represented at European level?
