Media development plan for Wiesbaden schools (MEP)

The media development plan represents an overall concept for a modern media infrastructure.

In September 2022, the state capital of Wiesbaden adopted the Media Development Plan for the years 2022 to 2025 (MEP 3.0). This ensures that the successful work of MEP 1.0 and 2.0 can be continued.

Focus on motor and physical development

Learning in schools is being rapidly and permanently changed by digitalization - it is clear that the world will be a digital and multimedia world. Schools must prepare their pupils for this and provide them with the necessary media skills. Creating the conditions for this requires more than the existing procedures and instruments. New initiatives are needed. In partnership with the state of Hesse, the school authority would like to further intensify its efforts in learning with digital media over the next few years.

In doing so, the state capital of Wiesbaden is making an important contribution to the implementation of the KMK strategy (Kultusministerkonferenz - Bildung in der digitalen Welt).

Through the consistent implementation of the present media development plan (MEP 3.0), Wiesbaden's schools will have fully networked premises and modern IT equipment. A comprehensive maintenance and support concept by the Wiesbaden Media Center will help teachers to concentrate on their educational work. The MEP creates planning security.

In close cooperation between the school authorities, the Media Center, the Media Education Advisory Service at the State Education Authority and representatives of the various school types, standards were formulated on the basis of school media education concepts, which combine educational and technical requirements in systematic equipment concepts.
