Governor of Wisconsin, Tommy G. Thompson

On September 29, 1993, the Governor of Wisconsin, Tommy G. Thompson, signed the Golden Book of the City of Wiesbaden.

At the suggestion of the honorary German citizen of Wisconsin, Klaus Scheunemann, a partnership between the state of Hesse and the American state of Wisconsin was established in 1976. Since then, there have been regular exchanges on a political, social and cultural level between the regions.

On September 29, 1993, the governor of the state, Tommy G. Thompson, was received by Mayor Diehl in the town hall. The Wiesbaden resident praised the friendly relationship and recalled Thompson's political successes in the fight for social justice.

He also expressed his thanks on behalf of all Germans for the commitment of the Americans, who were particularly responsible for the reconstruction and security in Wiesbaden after the Second World War.

Thompson expressed his gratitude for the friendly welcome and explained his attachment to Germany, which is rooted in his origins. His great-grandparents had emigrated to the United States from Cologne.

After reaffirming the friendly relations, the Governor signed the city's Golden Book.
