25 years of town twinning Ghent - Wiesbaden
On August 13, 1994, a delegation from the city of Ghent signed the Golden Book of the city of Wiesbaden.
To mark the 25th anniversary of the town twinning with the Belgian provincial capital of Ghent, a festive ceremony was held on August 13, 1994 in Wiesbaden's town hall.
The trade fair city of Ghent is the cultural and economic center of the region; thanks to the large overseas port, numerous international industrial groups have settled in the city of 250,000 inhabitants.
The university city can also look back on a long cultural tradition with museums and theaters.
Mayor Achim Exner welcomed his guests and proudly reported on the joint activities on a political, social and cultural level. His Belgian counterpart Gilbert Temmermann expressed his thanks for the warm welcome and promised to deepen the long-standing relationship in the future.
He and his delegation then signed the city's Golden Book.
