The reference library of the city archive

The archival holdings of the city archive are supplemented by a scientific reference library with around 24,000 titles. Here you will find literature on Wiesbaden's city history, extensive holdings on Nassau and Hessian state history and general history.

In addition to periodicals, the reference library contains general overviews and specialist literature on the history of Wiesbaden as well as various thematic focuses.

In addition to numerous periodicals, the periodical holdings of the academic library of the Wiesbaden City Archive also include the most important law gazettes of the former Duchy of Nassau, the Kingdom of Prussia and the German Reich as well as the Federal Republic of Germany and the State of Hesse. Most of the daily newspapers published in Wiesbaden are available in the original or on microfiches, as are all Wiesbaden address books.

The City Archive's reference library is accessible to all users. Books and journals can be consulted free of charge in the reading room. Borrowing is not possible. A fee is charged for copies in accordance with the annex to the user regulations for the Wiesbaden City Archive.

The majority of the library catalog is recorded in the City Archive's "Faust" database. As a user, you can pre-research the desired titles and order them directly for use in the reading room.
