Paul Hindemith
On May 9, 1957, the conductor Paul Hindemith signed the Golden Book of the City of Wiesbaden.
Paul Hindemith staged the opera "Mathis der Maler" in Wiesbaden for the 1957 May Festival.
City Councillor Hohoff, head of the cultural department, took this as an opportunity to propose an entry for the prominent artist in the Golden Book. This request was unanimously approved, so that Lord Mayor Erich Mix was able to receive the prominent guest in the town hall on May 9.
In the ballroom, the representatives of the city paid tribute to Hindemith's artistic work, who in turn expressed his thanks for the warm welcome and interest in his work in Wiesbaden. He then signed the city's Golden Book.
