Prime Minister of Mongolia, Nambaryn Enkhbayar
On April 23, 2002, the Prime Minister of Mongolia, Nambaryn Enkhbayar, signed the Golden Book of the City of Wiesbaden.
Nambaryn Enkbayar was born on June 1, 1958 in Ulan Bator, Mongolia.
After studying in Moscow and Leeds, England, he worked for the Mongolian Writers' Association in the 1980s. Between 1992 and 1996, he served as Minister of Culture in his home country.
After the elections in 2000, he was appointed Prime Minister before holding Mongolia's highest political office as President from 2005 to 2009.
During his time as head of government, he made an official tour of Germany, including a visit to the Hessian capital. On April 23, 2002, Lord Mayor Diehl welcomed Nambaryn Enkbayar at the head of a thirty-strong delegation from Mongolia in the ballroom of the town hall.
The head of the city proudly explained that this was the first visit to Wiesbaden by politicians from the Asian republic. The Prime Minister felt honored, thanked for the friendly reception and then signed the city's Golden Book.
To commemorate his visit, he was presented with a valuable porcelain collection from a Höchst manufactory.
