The Carol Nachman Prize was awarded in 2017 to the American researcher Professor David T. Felson from Boston in the USA. The prize, endowed with 37,500 euros, is one of the highest medical awards in Germany and serves to promote clinical, therapeutic and experimental research work in the field of rheumatology.

The twelve-member board of trustees, which includes renowned physicians from the field of rheumatology as well as representatives of the city of Wiesbaden, also chose Professor Ekkehard Genth from Aachen as the winner of the Carol Nachman Medal, which is endowed with 2,500 euros. Both award winners signed the Golden Book of the Hessian state capital after receiving their certificates.
