Dr. John Hume

On June 29, 1995, Dr. John Hume signed the Golden Book of the City of Wiesbaden.

For his services in initiating and promoting the peace process, Dr. John Hume, Member of the House of Commons from Northern Ireland, was awarded the Hessian Peace Prize, donated by former Prime Minister Osswald, by the President of the State Parliament, Möller, on June 29, 1995.

During his visit to Wiesbaden, the politician was also received by Lord Mayor Achim Exner in the ballroom of the town hall. The head of the city paid tribute to Dr. Hume's peaceful commitment to resolving the conflict in Northern Ireland.

The long-standing chairman and co-founder of the Social Democratic and Labor Party thanked Dr. Hume for the warm welcome and expressed the hope that his people could benefit from the experiences of the Germans during their reunification. The future Nobel Peace Prize winner then signed the city's Golden Book.
