The EU Defense Ministers' Conference took place in Wiesbaden on 1 and 2 March 2007. In this context, the then Defence Minister of the Federal Republic of Germany, Dr. Franz Josef Jung, and the Secretary General of the Council of the European Union and High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy CFSP, Javier Solana de Madariaga, signed the Golden Book of the City of Wiesbaden.

In his speech, Lord Mayor Diehl regretted that a great deal of effort was required to ensure the security of the state guests. At the same time, however, he praised the commitment of Dr. Jung and Solana to peace and freedom in Europe.

Dr. Jung expressed his thanks for the warm welcome and his love for the Hessian state capital, which had been the decisive factor in choosing it as the venue for the conference.
