Association of the International Transport Workers' Federation

On August 1, 1968, the International Transport Workers' Federation signed the Golden Book of the City of Wiesbaden.

In the summer of 1968, trade union representatives from 86 nations took part in the 29th Congress of the International Transport Workers' Federation in Wiesbaden.

At a reception in the town hall, Lord Mayor Rudi Schmitt thanked the organizers who had chosen Wiesbaden as the venue for the congress. This was a great honor for the spa town. With the entry in the Golden Book, the city wanted to emphasize the special role of trade unions in international relations. Without international cooperation in traffic and transportation, a rapprochement between East and West would be made even more difficult.

After a brief outline of the development of the transport situation in Wiesbaden, the President of the Federation thanked Dueby for the friendly welcome and expressed his optimism that the conference in Wiesbaden would contribute to achieving the goals mentioned by Schmitt. He then joined other international representatives in signing the city's Golden Book.
