President of the Republic of Dahomey, Hubert Maga
On June 29, 1971, the President of the Republic of Dahomey, Hubert Maga, signed the Golden Book of the City of Wiesbaden.
During his two-day state visit to Hesse, the President of the West African state of Dahomey, now Benin, made a stopover in Wiesbaden.
On the morning of June 29, 1971, His Excellency Hubert Maga was first received by Prime Minister Osswald in the Hessian State Chancellery. The delegation then visited the Dyckerhoff cement works.
At twelve o'clock, Lord Mayor Schmitt welcomed the distinguished guest in the ballroom of the town hall on behalf of the magistrate. After exchanging pleasantries, Maga was presented with the Great Gold Coin of Wiesbaden as a memento of his stay. He then signed the city's Golden Book.
After lunch with the magistrate in the Kurhaus, the African visitors toured the Hessian Teaching and Research Institute for Viticulture, Fruit Growing and Horticulture in Geisenheim. After a guided tour of the German Clinic for Diagnostics, the delegation returned to the "Rose" Hotel, where Minister President Osswald hosted a dinner in honor of His Excellency. The next morning, Maga left the city for Offenbach to continue his visit to Germany in Nuremberg, Bavaria, after two more appointments in Hesse.
