50 years Wiesbaden - Berlin-Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg

On September 12, 2014, a delegation from Berlin-Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg signed the Golden Book of the City of Wiesbaden.

Dr. Peter Beckers, Deputy District Mayor of Berlin-Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, Manuela Peltz-Grau, Assistant to the Deputy District Mayor, and Norbert Michalski, Chairman of the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg Town Twinning Association, signed the Golden Book of the state capital Wiesbaden on the occasion of the celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of the town twinning on 12 September 2014.

The official delegation visited the state capital of Wiesbaden from September 12 to 14, 2014 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the town twinning with Berlin-Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg together with the representatives of Wiesbaden.

In the presence of Lord Mayor Sven Gerich and City Councillor Wolfgang Nickel, the representatives of the delegation signed the city's Golden Book during the ceremony in the Great Festival Hall. Norbert Michalski was then honored for his many years of service to the town twinning between Berlin-Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg and Wiesbaden and awarded the silver citizens' medal of the state capital of Wiesbaden.

The anniversary program included the opening of the exhibitions "Hausbesetzung" at the Nassauischer Kunstverein and the photo exhibition "AugenBlicke - Stillstand und Bewegung" at the Schaufenster Stadtmuseum. The partnership association Wiesbaden - Berlin-Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg e. V. hosted a street festival at the Bäckerbrunnen on Saturday. On a guided tour of the Mechtildshausen estate, Werner Schneider, Head of Training at Wiesbadener Jugendwerkstatt GmbH, informed the Berlin guests about the history and current use of the site.
