25 years of town twinning Wiesbaden - Tunbridge Wells
On September 19, 2014, a delegation from Tunbridge Wells signed the Golden Book of the City of Wiesbaden.
Mayor David Julian Stanyer, Mayor of Tunbridge Wells, his wife Anne Mackenzie Stanyer, as well as Councillor Jane Catherine March and Councillor William George Benson and Professor Michael Holman, Chairman of the Tunbridge Wells Twinning & Friendship Association, were the official representatives of our twin town Tunbridge Wells at the celebrations to mark the 25th anniversary of the town twinning, which took place in Wiesbaden from September 19 to 21.
During the ceremony in the Great Festival Hall, the representatives of the delegation signed the city's Golden Book in the presence of Lord Mayor Sven Gerich and City Councillor Wolfgang Nickel. Professor Michael Holman was then honored for his many years of service to the town twinning between Tunbridge Wells and Wiesbaden and awarded the Silver Citizens' Medal of the State Capital of Wiesbaden.
Following the ceremony, photographs from the bilateral "Hidden Places" project were on display in front of the ballroom.
As a surprise, the guests from England were able to listen to English songs from the carillon as part of the city tour after climbing the Marktkirchenturm. This year, the twin town equestrian tournament was held at Wiesbaden's Hofgut Adamstal to mark the town twinning anniversary. The guests from Tunbridge Wells accompanied Lord Mayor Sven Gerich to the award ceremony for the athletes. The official program was rounded off by the concert "Twinning music" performed by the Wiesbaden Music and Art School with Charley Blue as guest singer from Tunbridge Wells.
Finally, the Royal Tunbridge Wells - Wiesbaden Vereinigung e. V. invited guests on a tour of the Rhine with a detour to Eberbach Abbey.
