An eye-catcher in the heart of the city
Cultural advisory board proposes model project
Greater visibility for culture in Wiesbaden is one of the central themes of the cultural development plan. At yesterday's meeting, the Cultural Advisory Board unanimously agreed to a recommendation from the "Visibility Working Group" that the city council should implement a mobile "Infopoint" for culture in the city center. The project is to be launched this year.
The model project outlined by the Cultural Advisory Board's "Visibility Working Group" envisages the placement of a designed and easily transportable container as a public eye-catcher, initially in the Historic Pentagon. The motivation behind the initiative is to inform a potential audience about the very diverse cultural offerings available in Wiesbaden. Interested parties and passers-by will be able to find out about cultural institutions and their programs via their own application, an app and digital displays at the container itself, but also from any location. "We want to finally get things moving with this idea and create a noticeable effect with manageable effort, especially for the independent scene," says Helmut Müller, Chairman of the Cultural Advisory Board, welcoming the adoption of the recommended resolution. "We want an eye-catcher for culture in the heart of the city. The Cultural Advisory Board would like to support the administration and the cultural scene in finding pragmatic solutions and will continue to contribute ideas to the projects in the cultural development plan."
According to the committee's vision, the model project can be expanded on a modular basis, initially with possible use by local cultural initiatives as a place for self-promotion and for cultural programs. An opportunity to linger, for example with minimal catering and seating, is another important component of the concept. If the "Infopoints" are successfully introduced and further developed, additional containers will be purchased.
At the meeting of the Cultural Advisory Board, the artistic directors of the Staatstheater Dorothea Hartmann and Beate Heine also presented their conceptual approaches, previous and planned activities and plays as well as structural perspectives for the Staatstheater Wiesbaden. "We would like to thank the directors for actively approaching the cultural players in Wiesbaden and venturing into new collaborations. The Cultural Advisory Board very much welcomes the approach of opening up to the wider urban community, as we experienced at the opening and will soon see again at the May Festival," says Dorothée Rhiemeier, Deputy Chairwoman of the Cultural Advisory Board. "We are delighted about the lively dialog with the artistic directors and pledge our support, particularly with regard to the further development of the Staatstheater in terms of construction and content as part of the upcoming general refurbishment."
