Museum Reinhard Ernst
The Reinhard Ernst Museum presents over 860 paintings and sculptures from the field of abstract art on around 2,000 square meters. The focus is on German and European post-war art, Japanese art and American Expressionism.
With the opening of the mre in 2024, the international art scene has gained a world-class museum with a focus on abstract art. Some of the masterpieces on display here, dating from after 1945 to the present day, are being presented to the public for the first time.
The museum exhibits works from the extensive art collection of entrepreneur Reinhard Ernst. The entrepreneur has been collecting abstract art since setting up his companies in the 1970s. His interest in paintings and sculptures grew during his business trips to Europe, Asia and the USA.
The collection presentations, which are renewed every two years, present different aspects of the Reinhard Ernst Collection. The annually changing special exhibitions showcase historical positions as well as contemporary artists.
