Central station

Built from red sandstone in the classic neo-baroque style, the main station was inaugurated in 1906 in the presence of Kaiser Wilhelm II as the new central station.

The arrangement of its details, such as the 40-metre-high tower, the pavilion and the hall, are designed according to picturesque aspects. The interior of the station - in contrast to the exterior - is made of yellow sandstone.

Due to the growing number of passengers in the spa town at the time, it became necessary to build a new station. As a terminus station, spa guests were spared having to climb stairs.

Following its renovation, the main station has been continuously expanded in recent years to include stores, so that people can also shop here outside normal opening hours.
