Sustainability is an important part of the event industry and a central concern for us! Find out more here.
Exterior view of the Kurhaus
We combine sustainability and functionality in such a way that ecological goals and user orientation form a unit. As a listed location, the Kurhaus Wiesbaden poses an additional challenge. We meet this challenge with many smaller projects in the areas of: Resource management, energy efficiency, waste avoidance and much more.
Our sustainable measures
Central location and sustainable arrival
The central location of the Kurhaus Wiesbaden means that it is within walking distance of conference hotels, shopping and catering facilities as well as the extensive bus, regional and long-distance rail network.
Mobility is one of the main factors for high CO2 emissions at events. We support event planners in ensuring that guests and employees travel to and from Wiesbaden in an environmentally friendly way and use public transport or bicycles.
It is five bus stops from Wiesbaden main station to the Kurhaus.
It can be reached on foot from the main station in around 20 minutes (one and a half kilometers). This ensures an environmentally friendly arrival and departure for organizers, visitors and employees.
The cooperation with the RMV and Deutsche Bahn (German Railways) makes it possible to use a combined ticket from the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV) for your own event at the Kurhaus with so-called"event tickets" and thus helps to improve the CO2 footprint, leave the private car at home during an event lasting several days and relieve traffic congestion.
Whether during set-up, dismantling or during the event. Avoiding and separating waste affects all service providers, partners, employees and visitors / guests of the hotel. For this reason, the hotel's own environmental management concept takes into account a wide range of areas and relies on intensive communication with the parties concerned.
Accessibility
Parking spaces for people with disabilities in the underground parking garage, near the entrance. Access is provided by elevator.
The entrance and all rooms and facilities that can be used by guests are accessible without steps or can be reached via an elevator.
Passages and doors are at least 90 cm wide.
Access to the spa gardens is guaranteed via a ramp.
WCs for people with disabilities are available and located on the first floor.
An induction loop is available in the Friedrich-von-Thiersch-Saal for hearing-impaired visitors with hearing aids, enabling them to follow the action on stage acoustically.
We recommend the CO2 calculator - specially designed for events - from the Federal Environment Agency and our sustainability checklist to help you keep track.

The new Ökoprofit battery bus is a visible sign of the successful cooperation between the city and companies on sustainable management.
Environmental guidelines and strategy
We raise our employees' awareness of environmental protection and motivate them to support the process of sustainable management and actively participate in it. They are supported in this by regular information and training.
We comply with laws and regulations as well as official requirements and we are also committed to continuously improving and expanding operational environmental protection. We base all environmental protection measures on the best available and economically viable technology.
When procuring products and services, we observe ecological and sustainable criteria wherever possible and economically justifiable. We encourage our suppliers to give environmental protection a similarly high priority as we do ourselves. We use the resources we use as sparingly as possible and ensure that they can be reused.
We maintain an open and objective dialog with our business partners, neighbors, authorities and the interested public about the environmental impact of our company and are open to suggestions for improvement.
We want to be a role model in our industry with our operational environmental protection and communicate this proactively.
The Kurhaus Wiesbaden has fulfilled the requirements of the Green Globe Standard 1.7. in the Hotel & Resort category.
The Kurhaus has been Green Globe certified since November 2022.
The audit catalog consists of 50 mandatory and 300 additional criteria and covers corporate aspects such as the establishment of a communication strategy, measures for employee health and safety, the implementation of a sustainability management system and a hazard prevention program. Resource conservation in relation to purchasing policy, energy and water consumption, food procurement and the waste management plan at the sites are also taken into account.
Like all other Green Globe-certified facilities, the Kurhaus is required not only to meet the mandatory criteria, but also to improve its results in various areas of sustainability from year to year.
With Ökoprofit (ÖKOlogisches PROjekt Für Integrierte UmweltTechnik), the state capital of Wiesbaden promotes resource conservation and energy efficiency in companies. The consulting program thus makes an important contribution to environmental and climate protection and helps to reduce costs in companies. The cooperation project between the city and business is also a local network for sustainable business.
Kurhaus Wiesbaden joined ÖKOPROFIT Wiesbaden in 2017 and the ecological optimization of the company was awarded again in 2023.
"We want to make the unachievable achievable by making events in our hotels sustainable and unique for our customers in terms of economic and ecological aspects. ÖKOPROFIT is a win-win situation, both through the joint efforts for an environment worth living in and for the good image of our companies. Recommendations are the result of positive experiences. We therefore recommend ÖKOPROFIT with a clear conscience."
The Kurhaus is consistently pursuing the path towards sustainable building management. In addition to the continuous conversion to energy-saving technology, an important step towards process-based sustainable management has also been taken.
Compliance with the EVVC/GCB sustainability code "fairpflichtet" is a matter of course for us:
STRATEGY. Sustainable management means acting strategically, taking the lead and integrating it into corporate processes.
Sustainability is understood above all as an OPPORTUNITY; to solve the effects of entrepreneurial action in the future and for the benefit of all.
The "sustainable entrepreneur" fulfills his responsibility in the region to increase the COMMON GOOD.
ECONOMY in balance with ecology and social aspects are equal concerns for the long-term stability of the company.
Responsible use of RESOURCES AND ENERGY means firstly avoiding, secondly reducing and thirdly replacing in a regenerative way.
The "sustainable employer" fulfills a demanding SOCIAL COMPETENCE towards its employees, increases their qualifications and secures employment.
Out of RESPECT for people, the "sustainable employer" is committed to respecting human rights and opposes all forms of discrimination and corruption.
OPENNESS is an attitude. Transparency of measures for sustainability is the consequence.
The voluntary SELF COMMITMENT to sustainability is a duty to oneself that becomes a requirement of society.
The "sustainable entrepreneur" sets INCITES to rethink and act in order to involve employees and partners in a continuous improvement process of sustainability.
The Kurhaus Wiesbaden participates as a partner business in the"Destination Certification Sustainable Destination".
The partner business of the Sustainable Destination takes sustainability as an important management task. It ensures that the three dimensions of ecological, economic and socio-cultural sustainability are continuously strengthened in the operational business.
In this way, it contributes to the award of the "Sustainable Destination" certificate to the tourism destination WIESBADEN RHEINGAU.
"By exchanging ideas in the network, we stay in contact with other sustainability officers from other tourism companies in the region and can develop joint ideas, but also discuss challenges with each other and work out solutions." Robert Frowein, Sustainability Manager
Last but not least, a sustainability consultant trained by the GCB e. V. is available to assist event planners in all matters relating to the organization of green meetings. Talk to us!
The focus of sustainable resource management should always be on the avoidance and reduction of resources before any offsetting measures.
We would be happy to advise you on how you can sensibly and effectively reduce your own CO2 balance with further measures in Wiesbaden and especially here at the Kurhaus. Please feel free to make an appointment with our sustainability manager.
