Swedish Enterprise Award
On November 17, the Swedish-German business community gathered in Wiesbaden for the Swedish-German Business Day. The 20th presentation of the Swedish Business Award in the presence of Crown Princess Victoria was the highlight of the evening in the impressive Friedrich-von-Thiersch-Saal in the Kurhaus.
The Swedish Business Award is presented annually by the Swedish Chamber of Commerce, Business Sweden and the Swedish Embassy in the categories of large companies, medium-sized companies and newcomers to the German market to three companies with Swedish roots that have achieved particular economic success in Germany. The prize for German investment in Sweden was awarded by the jury for the third time.
During the gala evening at the Kurhaus, Saab was honored as a major company. The Swedish security and defense company has been developing innovative solutions for land, sea and air for over 80 years. "Saab brings the latest technological knowledge from Sweden to Germany and adapts it to the local market together with its customers. In doing so, Saab is making a fundamental contribution to safety in Europe," said the jury, explaining its decision.
The prize in the SME category went to Espresso House. The company has not only brought Swedish coffee culture to Germany, but also the Swedish way of putting the focus on the employee. In the jury's statement, it said that the company had succeeded in "winning over German guests for the typical Swedish fika despite challenges such as the pandemic and inflation".
Einride was recognized as a successful newcomer to the German market. Einride's holistic ecosystem approach enables the transition from traditional, CO2-intensive freight transportation to more sustainable practices without companies having to take on the technological risk or the associated capital investment. With this award, the jury recognizes these efforts in an area where Germany has so far lagged far behind in international comparison".
The prize for outstanding German investment in Sweden was awarded to Bosch. Bosch has an excellent reputation worldwide for innovation, quality and sustainability. Bosch has been present in Sweden since 1904 and will further increase its investment in Sweden by expanding its branch in Tranås in early 2023. "With this investment, Bosch is not only demonstrating its commitment to sustainability, but also to German-Swedish economic relations," said the jury in its statement.
The language institute Internationella Skolorna Düsseldorf also received an honorary award for its work this year. The company has been a mediator between Swedish and German culture for over 20 years. Through its cooperation with a large number of adult education centers, high schools and universities in Sweden, Internationella Skolorna has now welcomed over 3,000 interns, participants and students to Germany. "In view of the fact that the Swedish economy has a high demand for German-speaking personnel, Internationella Skolorna makes an important contribution to strengthening German-Swedish cooperation," said the jury in its justification for the honorary award.
