The Protestant Church of Bierstadt is the second-oldest structure in the city of Wiesbaden after the Heathens' Wall. For visitors interested in art history and history, it is surely one of the most beautiful churches in Wiesbaden. Despite later conversions in the Baroque period, the Romanesque aisle-less church has been preserved for the most part. More recent investigations have shown that most of the jointing along the nave from the Romanesque period has also been preserved. The interior of the nave is characterized by Baroque elements from 1733/34 (pews, galleries, windows and tower entrance). In the choir and the chancel, the Baroque chancel altar was removed in 1934 and replaced by an altar screen in 1970, which now includes the paintings by Martin Caldenbach but once again allows viewers to see the windows of the choir and their frescos.
