Elvis Presley and WIESBADEN RHEINGAU

Elvis in Wiesbaden Rheingau? Myth or truth? Wiesbaden actually played an important role in Elvis' life. What is it all about?

Wiesbaden Rheingau Gondola

Café Europa

Elvis in Rüdesheim and Wiesbaden? A gondola floats over the picturesque vineyards of Rüdesheim, while the King of Rock 'n' Roll appears to enjoy the view while singing "A pocket full of rainbows" in the film Café Europa (1960). Or is it?

It also seems as if scenes from the film were shot with Elvis in front of Wiesbaden Central Station. But even here, the King only has a place through the magic of the movie. The truth: as romantic as the idea is, Elvis himself was never part of this scene in Rüdesheim or Wiesbaden. Café Europa, a classic of the 1960s, was Elvis' first movie after his time in the US Army. But the scenes in Rüdesheim and Wiesbaden were shot without his real presence. However, the region and its atmosphere help to keep the myth of Elvis alive.

Elvis and Wiesbaden

Elvis and Wiesbaden - more than just a myth: Wiesbaden nevertheless played an important role in Elvis' life: During his military service (1958-1960), just before the movie, he spent a lot of time in the city, which he visited often. He even met his future wife, Priscilla Beaulieu Wagner, here.Seilbahn Rüdesheim - dream like in the movies: Even if Elvis never sat in gondola no. 76, you can enjoy the view yourself again from April 2025 and be enchanted by the magic of the Rheingau - almost like in Café Europa!
