Pharmacy garden
The Apothekergarten is located on the edge of the city center between Kurpark and Bierstadt. Although the Apothekergarten may give the impression of a small, permanent garden show, the focus here is not on the splendor of the flowers, but on the health-promoting effects of the medicinal plants.
Opened in 1986, the Apothecary Garden is a gem for those thirsty for knowledge and those seeking relaxation. Over 250 medicinal and aromatic plants can be seen - and smelled - on an area of 5,500 square meters from mid-May to the beginning of October. The arrangement of the 28 beds is based on the effect of the plants and their healing powers.
Signs not only give the names of the plants, but also explain the use of the roots, flowers or leaves and their healing properties.
A popular excursion destination is the Apothecary's Garden with its straight or curved, organically rounded beds modeled on medieval coastal gardens. A small pond and the beds separated by lawns with their plants, herbs and shrubs make a visit to the garden a special nature experience. Round structures and wooden benches invite you to linger and enjoy.
From the end of May to mid-September, visitors can also take part in guided tours: Every Saturday afternoon, pharmacists from the Freundeskreis Apothekergarten Wiesbaden volunteer to guide visitors through the educational and show garden.
