The Media Center operates a web conferencing platform for Wiesbaden schools. It is self-hosted and works in compliance with data protection regulations.
Schools can use a web conferencing platform from the media center. It is based on the open source solution BigBlueButton and is operated by the media center on its own server in Wiesbaden.
Access
Teachers and certain other authorized users can log in at webkonferenz.wiesan.de with their Edupool access data. In the simple and clear web interface, you can create and configure rooms and find the relevant invitation links there. The link to your Edupool account automatically ensures that you are authorized to use it.
Don't have Edupool access yet? Then complete the self-registration form via the link below. We will usually activate your account within 24 hours.
Participation / Technical information
BigBlueButton is a pure web application, there is no app. No installations are required to use it. At the start of each session, your browser will ask you for permission to use the microphone and camera - you must of course allow this.
If you experience technical difficulties or quality problems, the first solution would be to try these:
Leave the conference and rejoin.
Try a different browser.
Try a different network.
Try a different device.
We have received feedback that problems sometimes occur with particularly secure end devices such as the Hessen-PC. If you are working on such a workstation, we recommend a one-off function test before the first conference.
Legal information
As a rule, Section 83b of the Hessian School Act and the School Data Protection Ordinance apply to schools as the basis for video conferencing. According to these principles, declarations of consent from pupils, parents and teachers are generally not required or are granted automatically by clicking on the participation link. These legal bases are linked below for further reading.
