The Platte Hunting Lodge: a house with 200 years of history and modern facilities
Outside, you will find a green area at ground level as well as free public parking spaces with disabled parking spaces. This means that people with limited mobility do not have far to go to Platte Hunting Lodge.
The house is unique due to the interplay of modern and historical elements. In the freely accessible rotunda, which forms the heart of the house, you will find a spiral staircase on both sides. Some of the steps have been preserved. The glass roof construction provides plenty of daylight. This also applies to the floor-to-ceiling windows, which are particularly popular with people in wheelchairs. They can look out of the window onto the Rhine valley and enjoy the wonderful panoramic view.
Modern building materials such as glass and steel were not the only materials used in the renovation work. Attention was also paid to accessibility
Accessibility for all visitors
The rotunda is the largest room in the house and connects the two floors with an old spiral staircase on both sides. For people with limited mobility, this is of course not possible to manage alone. In this case, your guests are welcome to use the passenger elevator. This serves all three levels, the first floor, the upper floor and the basement. The elevator can also be used by service providers such as technicians or caterers to transport large items of equipment. However, this is not a freight elevator!
The first floor
The main entrance can be accessed via three small steps. A small ramp can be installed on site, which staff are happy to set up for people with walking difficulties, baby carriages, caterers and technicians. There is a kitchen area on the floor that can be used by the caterer as a preparation kitchen. This means that the caterer's goods only need to be transported via a ramp.
The first floor is at ground level and has a smooth wooden floor. There are no carpets or other hazards on the floor. Depending on the venue, you can choose a lounge area on the first floor with sufficient seating such as a sofa, armchair or chairs. This allows people with limited mobility to rest. There is sufficient space for wheelchairs and baby carriages in the checkroom.
The upper floor
A wooden floor has also been laid on the upper floor, which is level and smooth. Your guests will also find plenty of seating here. Our benches, which allow a view of the Rhine Valley through the floor-to-ceiling windows, are particularly popular.
The cellar vault
The vaulted cellar brings the old history of the house to life. Here and there are many corners that have been well preserved and show life in the 19th century. To enable people in wheelchairs or parents with baby carriages to access the cellar, the passenger elevator also goes down to the basement. There you will find the sanitary facilities, which have also been designed to be barrier-free, and a separate room for wheelchair users and baby changing facilities. The floor dates in part from the 19th century and is also at ground level.
Shuttle service to the accommodation
We offer a special shuttle service for our guests, which you can book in addition. This ensures that your guests arrive safely at their destination. This is particularly advantageous for people with limited mobility. Talk to us about this when booking and let us advise you.
Unrestricted freedom of movement even with a disability and wheelchair
The Platte Hunting Lodge in Wiesbaden impresses with its interplay of history and modern building elements. Since the renovation work in 1987, the castle has been barrier-free. The passenger elevator travels to all three levels and is suitable for guests and service providers alike. The three floors are leveled and easily accessible for wheelchair users and baby carriages. In front of the building you will find a green area at ground level where you can hold your reception in the warmer months. There are also plenty of free and handicapped-accessible parking spaces. Take advantage of our shuttle service, which will take your guests safely to the accommodation or to our wonderful Jagdschloss Platte.
Our staff are always ready to help people with reduced mobility. If you have any questions or requests regarding accessibility on site or before booking, we will be happy to assist you.
