After a break due to Corona, the "Convention Wiesbaden Stories" are back with a new episode. Episode 4 shows a best practice trade fair example in times of Corona.
The ARTe art fair, the first public fair under Corona conditions, has been taking place at the RMCC since mid-March 2020.
How can an event or trade fair format with a lot of public traffic be implemented in these times? Messe Sindelfingen, as the organizer of the ARTe art fair, has sent a courageous and hopeful signal to the market and shown that, despite coronavirus restrictions and with good and well thought-out concepts, it is possible to organize fairs that reach a similar number of visitors as "before". In both years - 2019 and 2020 - it attracted almost 4,000 art enthusiasts to the RMCC.
100 exhibitors presented their contemporary, "young and cheeky" art to up to 250 people at the same time (maximum number of people in Hesse, as of October 2020). On an area of 5000 square meters, the North Hall offered sufficient space to arrange and coordinate exhibition stands and walkways in accordance with current regulations, so that all visitors in the hall at the same time could move through the exhibition with sufficient distance.
How were the hygiene regulations implemented? See for yourself!

Blog post about episode 1
Since April 2018, the RheinMain CongressCenter (opens in a new tab) has been hosting congresses, trade fairs and conferences - in short, events of all types and sizes. The RMCC has made a name for itself as the ideal venue for major events and is characterized by its size, flexibility and unique features. Episode 1 of the video magazine takes you to an event at the RMCC, namely this year's congress of the German Society for Internal Medicine.
What does an event like a trade fair or congress look like at the RMCC in Wiesbaden?
The RMCC has had an eventful year, with numerous events (opens in a new tab) of all sizes taking place there. Thanks to the enormous number of visitors and the program, the Congress of Internists of the German Society for Internal Medicine (DGIM) is a best practice example of the capacities and possibilities that the RMCC premises (opens in a new tab) offer customers from all sectors and of all sizes.
The spacious halls of the RMCC cover an immense 17,700 m². At a major event such as the Congress of Internal Medicine, every single square meter of the huge space is used - without any problems. All of the approximately 8,500 participants at the DGIM congress could be accommodated in the RMCC. In addition to an accompanying supporting program in the Kurhaus Wiesbaden (opens in a new tab), the RMCC offered space for 375 sessions and 1215 lectures in 45 different rooms during the major event. This demonstrates the enormous flexibility of the RMCC, which can also accommodate a major event of this size. The Congress of Internal Medicine is not the only example of the successful staging of such a major event.
Guaranteed success thanks to flexibility and modern functionality
The RheinMain CongressCenter has been in operation for over a year now - a year that has been anything but uneventful for the RMCC. Managing Director Oliver Heiliger draws a positive balance: "It has been a very busy year: from big to small, everything has been there, we are very satisfied." The building has proven that the decision to build it at this location in Wiesbaden was the right one, and that it has also fulfilled its purpose and objective in terms of architecture (opens in a new tab) and concept, says Oliver Heiliger.
A successful outcome for the RheinMain CongressCenter. So what are the guarantees of success for holding an event at the RMCC that convince even major clients such as the DGIM to use this venue?
Size and functionality for events of all kinds
The RMCC is characterized in particular by its immense size of approx. 17,700 m², which can be used in its entirety for a trade fair (opens in a new tab), congress (opens in a new tab) or other event. The South Hall, with over 3,000 m² of space for up to 3,200 people, offers a combination of an exhibition area and an area with space for a plenary of 700 people.
The exact layout of the rooms and halls at the RMCC does not have to be adhered to - it is also possible to adapt the layout of the rooms at the RMCC. For example, the 2,400 m², light-flooded Terrace Hall (opens in a new tab) was used by the DGIM at the Internal Medicine Congress by dividing it into several smaller segments, allowing several programs to be held simultaneously. With such a room layout, which can be individually determined by the customer, specially installed partition walls ensure that the various programs within the respective segments do not overlap acoustically and thus disrupt the process.
The RMCC stands for flexibility
The aspect of flexibility has been one of the most important guiding factors since the conception and start of construction of the RheinMain CongressCenter. The possibility of dividing larger halls into smaller segments not only ensures perfect acoustics, but also allows the completely flexible use of rooms of different sizes.
The North Hall (opens in a new tab), which covers 4,600 m² and offers space for up to 5,000 people, is characterized by a unique feature: It contains its own boxes, which can be used completely independently of the actual body of the hall. However, it is also possible to open up the separating glass pane - so you can also be part of an entertainment event and a stage program in the North Hall within the box. Another option for using the boxes in the North Hall is to hold a press conference. This allows the participants of the press conference to take a look at what is happening at the event and still be among themselves and in a quiet environment - the DGIM also made use of this at the Internistenkongress. The many different ways in which the boxes in the North Hall can be used are thus an example of the flexibility that makes the RheinMain CongressCenter such an impressive venue for trade fairs and congresses.
Pleasant atmosphere for a successful event
Despite the enormous size and spaciousness of the premises of the RheinMain CongressCenter (opens in a new tab) and despite all the practical technical functionalities, the RMCC is characterized by one thing in particular: A friendly, bright and above all pleasant atmosphere (opens in a new tab). The architecture of the RMCC radiates both modernity and friendliness and makes a congress or trade fair not only a practical affair for customers, but above all a successful event in a positive atmosphere.
Conclusion: The RMCC impresses in every respect
Here is a summary of all the special features and advantages of the RheinMain CongressCenter:
17,700 m² of floor space
