SDG 4 in Wiesbaden

SDG "Quality education"

In Hessian: "Was Hänssche scho lernt waas de Hans immer noch"

What is it about and what does the SDG "Quality Education" mean for the event industry?

For the event industry, this means that event planners and service providers contribute to achieving this goal by offering further education programs and workshops, integrating interesting facts into their events (e.g. making information on sustainability tangible on site, making it accessible in brochures, infographics or apps) and entering into partnerships with educational institutions. As part of such partnerships, prospective event planners can, for example, be offered guided tours of locations from a sustainability perspective. They should also design educational resources to be inclusive in order to ensure broad accessibility. In addition, players in the event industry can provide information in the form of checklists, guidelines, articles, etc. on how sustainable events can be implemented.

How do we implement this?

✓ High-quality training courses:

  • The WICM sales team has been offering high-quality training courses for several years, e.g. via its own campus format. The topic of "sustainability" plays a major role here, but free webinars are also regularly offered on other industry-relevant topics, such as "Healthcare events".
  1. Convention Wiesbaden Campus
The Convention Wiesbaden Campus was launched during the 2020 pandemic and has since established itself as a permanent event. The aim is to provide customers and partners with exclusive and free knowledge and networking opportunities and to discuss industry-relevant topics and trends in depth with changing experts.

A separate Campus was held on the topic of sustainability. The recordings can be accessed and viewed online free of charge for an unlimited period of time.
  2. Convention Wiesbaden webinars
The Convention Wiesbaden Campus training format is supplemented by a series of webinars. The aim is to inform customers and partners about the convention location Wiesbaden, its event venues, implementation options for formats, best practice examples and industry-relevant topics.

The webinars are free of charge, designed to be entertaining and are each dedicated to a key topic. At the end of the webinars, they are made available as video recordings.

✓ Best practice events

  • Events with new formats or a special (sustainable) focus are presented in a "best practice case". Here, event planners can be inspired and learn directly from professionals based on realized events.

✓ Convention Wiesbaden Stories

  • The video format accompanies events and interviews the responsible planners behind them. Learn, for example, how the large allergy convention at the RMCC in Wiesbaden was implemented by sustainability consultant Clemens Arnold from 2bdifferent.

✓ Convention Wiesbaden Quarterly:

✓ Checklists

  • Our checklist for the sustainable implementation of events offers event planners the opportunity to consider various aspects along the planning process and to check their own event for sustainable implementation. In various categories such as travel, purchasing, catering, water consumption, waste disposal and much more, we ask specific questions that simplify sustainable planning. This also contributes to professional sustainable event planning.

✓ Guided tours of the building

  • We regularly offer guided tours for students from various universities in Wiesbaden and the region. The students take different courses and are particularly interested in the sustainable construction and operation of an event venue, such as the RMCC. So far, we have hosted the "Real Estate Management", "Sustainable Corporate Management", "Business Ethics" and "Sustainable Tourism, Hotel and Mobility Management" courses (all from Fresenius University of Applied Sciences).
