Otto-Fricke Hospital
"Geriatric treatment to avoid nursing care" is the guiding principle of the Geriatric Clinic am Katharinenstift.
This clinic in the Wiesbaden borough of Biebrich is a branch of the Otto-Fricke Hospital in Bad Schwalbach, which specializes in the treatment of diseases which frequently occur in older persons, such as strokes; degenerative brain diseases; diseases of the skeletal system and internal diseases. Treatments focus particularly on speech disorders (special aphasia ward); dysphagia (difficulty in swallowing); and memory disorders (memory clinic); as well as in measures, such as ergotherapy and speech therapy; physiotherapy; CT training/accompaniment while shopping and doing errands. The goal is to preserve or restore the independence of patients for as long as possible. The clinic organizes the provision of medical aids and supplies and makes house visits.
Day clinic patients should still be able to help themselves to a certain degree (wash themselves, get dressed and personal hygiene, etc.), be able to cope with a travel time of 45 minutes at most and not be suffering from severe dementia.
