The Holy Family Church designed by the architect Martin Braunstorfinger was consecrated in 1956. At that time, the wide hall had no ornaments and was empty, except for the altar. No kneelers or pews, no bells, stained-glass windows, paintings, statues or colours, as is customary for Catholic churches. This changed in the 1980s. In 1988 the Lady Chapel which used to be open to the church was separated by a partition and set up as a chapel for weekday use. In addition, a Confessional Chapel and a vestibule to the sacristy were created. The organ was expanded by the firm Späth/Mengen-Ennetach. Under the supervision of the architect Prof. Franz Josef Mühlenhoff, the church, bell tower and parish centre were thoroughly renovated from 1988
to 1993. But the newly added wall on the north side, between the church and the chapel, appeared austere and pale.
Five themes were selected for the painting of the five extensive wall surfaces: "The Creation", "The Flood", " Christ's incarnation", "Jesus Christ dies in Wiesbaden" and "I make everything new". Reinhard Dassler was commissioned to make the Creation cycle in February 1989 and completed this project in March 1994. In 1997, the church was added to the Register of Monuments as a cultural monument.
