Shopping
Last but not least, Wiesbaden has an attractive shopping scene with an ideal mix of products. In addition to the lively pedestrian zone, which has been redesigned, including the "Mauritiusplatz" plaza in the city centre, the city has a real upscale "designer street" with about 130 shops. Forty per cent of the shops carry exclusive brands. In shops selling optical goods, watches, and jewellery, the share of famous brands is even 70 %. The heart of this shopping precinct continues to be the Wilhelmstrasse, which is affectionately called the "Rue" by the residents of Wiesbaden.
The Taunusstraße, with its classicistic buildings, lies directly adjacent to the Wilhelmstraße. Elegant antique shops, but also modern furniture and interior decoration stores characterise the shopping experience here. Outstanding restaurants, bars, bistros and pubs, and cafes round off the scene.
On the whole, Wiesbaden, the state capital, is a place where people love to live and work.
