Strong performance at the GTM Chemnitz
Last year, following the successful launch of WICM GmbH and Rheingau-Taunus Kultur und Tourismus GmbH (RTKT), it was decided to bring together the representatives of the WIESBADEN RHEINGAU destination in the exhibition hall. Together with Rüdesheim am Rhein, two hotel partners from Rüdesheim and the Bingen-Rüdesheim shipping company, the destination formed a visible unit in the direct vicinity of Frankfurt am Main and Kultur in Hessen. With this spatial arrangement, the Wiesbaden Rheingau - Rüdesheim team achieved an extremely good presence and perception! The great interest in the region was already clear during the preparations for the workshop - after all, it is important to arrange appointments with buyers every 20 minutes in order to market the region with the aim that the buyers include it in their program.
Buyers curious about new things in the destination
A total of around 60 meetings were held for the destination WIESBADEN RHEINGAU alone with travel buyers from the source markets: Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, the USA, Canada, China, Japan and the United Arab Emirates. The demand for cultural offers such as the Wiesbaden Museum with its Art Nouveau exhibition or the new Reinhard Ernst Museum, the State Theatre, but also for culinary offers and wine tastings, for example as part of a visit to the Henkell Freixenet sparkling wine cellar, or for outdoor activities was extremely high In Rüdesheim, the Niederwald Monument, the cable car ride and, above all, the combination of boat trip, cable car and chairlift were very popular. Wine hikes and e-bike tours are just as popular as wine tastings or the experience of the preparation ceremony for the famous Rüdesheim coffee in the equally famous Drosselgasse. The offer around St. Hildegard's Abbey and the topic of Hildegard von Bingen as well as culinary specialties and regional products met with particular interest.
Events such as Rhine in Flames or the Christmas Market of Nations, as well as the Rheingau Gourmet Weeks, were noted as exciting travel events and added to the agenda of tour operators offering programs for group trips and river cruises for 2025. What was striking this year was the increasing number of discussions with tour operators who were specifically looking for offers for individual travelers or small groups of max. 6 people - for example, when friends want to travel together.
