Favorite places in Wiesbaden: Petra Reifschneider - The Nerobergbahn
Petra Reifschneider's - tour guide - favorite place is idyllically situated in the forest and is the oldest quirky landmark in the city: it is the Nerobergbahn.
Dear guests of the city of Wiesbaden,
Technology that inspires, a breathtaking view and a little thrill - that's what I personally associate with the Nerobergbahn. It is my favorite place in Wiesbaden. For over 130 years, it has been providing reliable service and taking those seeking relaxation up Wiesbaden's local mountain, the Neroberg.
It is a technical cultural monument and uses the gravity of up to 7000 liters of water to fill the wagon at the top of the mountain and pull the other wagon up the Neroberg with its weight. Both are connected by a steel cable and when they meet exactly in the middle of the track, they pass very close to each other and the conductors and guests greet each other in a friendly manner.it runs every 15 minutes from Easter to October and with a bit of luck, you can stand right at the front next to the conductor on the platform. This is a real highlight for children.
But it's not just the train ride that's great, there are lots of opportunities for a successful active day in Wiesbaden. For the sporty and brave, I recommend a visit to the climbing forest. Here you can climb to dizzying heights after a short introduction. Personally, I usually prefer to enjoy a nice walk in the forest. The forest adventure trail is an approximately 3 km long circular route and ideal for young and old. Here I enjoy the lush green of the trees and can recharge my batteries. On your way back to the Nerobergbahn mountain station, you will pass an enchanting little temple. Enjoy the magnificent view and maybe you'll feel like taking a nice souvenir photo.
I wish you a relaxing time and many wonderful memories of Wiesbaden.
