Frauenstein wine and nature trail
The 6.8-kilometre circular wine and nature trail leads from Frauenstein to Schierstein. Almost 30 information boards provide information about wine-growing areas, vineyard designations and grape varieties.
The work of the winegrowers is described and there is information about the climate and fertilization. You can learn interesting facts about dry stone walls, semi-dry and dry grasslands, orchards and wetland biotopes.
Directions
The starting point of the wine and nature trail is in both Frauenstein and Schierstein. It is 6.8 kilometers long and designed as a circular trail. The main route is 3.7 kilometers long, the secondary route takes you back to the starting point.
The start in Frauenstein is just below the Goethestein, from there you walk in the direction of the Goethestein below the Traubeneichenwäldchen, after about 500 meters you turn left and follow the signs along the Mittlerer Weinbergsweg to Hof Nürnberg. Shortly below Hof Nürnberg, the path bends sharply and leads towards Schierstein into the Leierbach valley.
Below Haus Himmelreich, you walk through the Schiersteiner Hölle to the Schierstein chapel, your destination in Schierstein. Alternatively, you can hike back to Frauenstein via "Grunsels Börnchen" and "Grorother Mühle" through orchards and wetland biotopes in the valley.
There are directional arrows and a QR code on the information boards.
