Shady mountain valleys, tranquil forests, rugged rocky outcrops and winding vineyards - the constantly changing views will amaze you. Central European cultural history, Rhine romance and landscapes steeped in history are gathered here in the smallest of spaces. The Upper Middle Rhine Valley alone, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2002, is home to 40 castles, palaces and fortresses. The 320-kilometre premium hiking trail on the right bank of the Rhine between Wiesbaden and Bonn leads from the Siebengebirge mountains via the Middle Rhine Valley to the Rheingau. The route includes sporting challenges for experienced hikers as well as viewpoints with a special experience value.

Rheinsteig 01. stage Wiesbaden-Biebrich - Schlangenbad (south-north)
The Rheinsteig adventure begins right in front of the impressive Biebrich Palace! In 21 stages and over 300 kilometers of hiking, the trail leads to Bonn. The Rheinsteig initially follows the Rhine and circles the Schierstein harbor before leading into the vineyards. Past the Goethe Stone, you reach Frauenstein and pass the mighty Grey Stone before reaching the first stage destination of Schlangenbad.
