Nerobergbahn - a ride on a cultural monument

As a landmark of the city, the Neroberg and the historic cable car have been a well-known excursion destination in Wiesbaden since its opening in 1888 and, as a technical cultural monument, the cable car is a real highlight for railroad fans. With a total length of 438.5 meters, the cable car overcomes a height difference of 83 meters with an average gradient of 19.5 percent and thus amazes young and old alike.

The Nerobergbahn is the oldest rack-and-pinion cableway in Germany operated with water ballast. As a funicular, its speed is regulated by a hand brake and the drive is based on gravity using water ballast. A real tip for railroad fans looking for beautiful excursion destinations.
