Sonnenberg Castle

Sonnenberg Castle was built in a scenically exposed location around 1200.

It was the most important bastion of the Counts of Nassau. Count Adolf, who was elected German king in 1292, resided here.

The castle is now a stately ruin. The surviving tower houses a small castle museum.
