The Velvets Theater's form of performance is unique in Germany. On a "peep-box stage" lined with black velvet, black-clad players guide puppets and other objects through a narrow alley of light. The objects hit by the spotlight become visible to the audience, while the players remain hidden in the dark. This allows the most astonishing effects to be created, blurring the boundaries to a real reality and leading the audience into a world of magic and illusion, full of poetry and enchantment.

For over 50 years, the fascination of light and color has been combined with the art of black theater and with mask and puppet shows. Among other things, the classic "The Little Prince" can be seen again and again. In new plays such as "Grenzen-Los", this sophisticated technique is combined with acting, singing, dance and film, resulting in a new, entertaining form of theater enriched with multi-layered content.
