No wonder: for one thing, most of the island has been a nature reserve since 1978. On top of that, the natural conditions are perfect for birds of prey: the Rhine on both sides of the island is rich in schools of fish.
Anyone who wants to extend their trip to Rettbergsaue is advised to bring a tent and sleeping bag: There are camping sites, as well as space to play soccer, volleyball, table tennis or badminton, and in addition to barbecue areas, there is also an island café. A very comfortable Robinsonade and at the same time a nice break from city life.
