Culinary tour through the Bergkirchenviertel
You can look forward to a culinary tour through the Bergkirchenviertel on Friday, April 11, at 5 pm. The meeting point is at the Kochbrunnen.
The charming district, where workers used to live and which was also known as the "cat hole" because of its small apartments, is now a lively neighborhood with beautiful cafés, individual stores, bars, cabarets, galleries and a lot of "Kiez feeling".
It is a special district that its residents campaigned for, especially in the 1960s: When the plans for a large-scale demolition became known, there were massive protests and political disputes - and subsequently a careful redevelopment.
Together, we discover the streets and squares with French charm, the beautiful Bergkirche church that gives the district its name, atmospheric backyards and trendy pubs such as the Kortheuer restaurant, where guests still have to behave in a way that makes the landlord feel comfortable. And of course we try one or two home-made delicacies.
