Nordfriedhof
Platter Straße 83
The Nordfriedhof (North Cemetery) was opened in 1877 and is Wiesbaden's second largest cemetery, 145,000 square metres in size.
The former Totenhof Platter Straße 13 is the predecessor of the Nordfriedhof created on the ridge between the Nerotal and Adamstal valleys.
Many important personalities were laid to rest here. Today, the old and precious trees which have been there since the its creation lend the cemetery the feel of a woodland, primarily due to its many conifers and cypresses. On the grounds of the cemetery bordering the Platter Straße there are many graves dating from the turn of the 19th/20th century.
Due to the cemetery's large number of artistically significant gravestones as well as its architectural and landscaping design, it has now been listed as an historical site.
