Luisenstraße 13

In 1834, the decision was made to rebuild the administration building of the Duchy of Nassau. Carl Boos built the administration building between 1838 and 1843. Only a few years later, in 1854, the whole building suffered fire damage, but it was rebuilt in the same year. The architect Philipp Hoffmann was responsible for the renovation and the redecoration. In 1925 and 1926 the building was enlarged: an administration building was added which extended the side along Bahnhofstraße. These façade and two parallel wings towards the sides fronting on Luisenstraße/Bahnhofstraße jointly form a rectangle whose interior courtyard consisted of the former open garden. In 1866, the government of the Duchy of Nassau was replaced with the Prussian administration by the Administrative District Officer. A second major change occurred as a result of the political upheavals in1918 when French troops marched into Wiesbaden as the occupying power. The administration building survived the Second World War unscathed.
