Lutherkirche

Sartoriusstraße 16

The plain façade of the Luther Church approaches being a transcendence of the city's Historicism in protestant church construction in contrast to the other protestant houses of prayer such as the Marktkirche, Bergkirche, and Ringkirche. Professor Friedrich Pützer designed the church, but considered the reflection of historical forms in new structures as inappropriate.

The Lutherkirche in Mosbacher Straße was consecrated on Christmas 1910.

The roof of the Lutherkirche is distinctive: 20 meters high, it makes up more than half of the height of the building. There is room for 1,400 worshippers, the Romanesque Jugendstil is especially visible in the embellishments and colourful decoration of the ceilings and walls. Thanks to the building's single large space, Lutherkirche one of those houses of prayer in Wiesbaden with ideal acoustics.
