Kaiser-Friedrich-Ring

Wiesbaden has repeatedly had work done on a peripheral ring road since the 1870s. This meant turning away from the urban planning idea of a chessboard type grid of intersecting streets which had been favoured in the first half of the 19th century.

The Kaiser-Friedrich-Ring was constructed between 1888 and 1900 and connects the railway station with the Ringkirche.

What makes the Kaiser-Friedrich-Ring impressive is its highly prestigious appearance. The flats here were created to meet the needs of the wealthy. Today, the Kaiser-Friedrich-Ring in its entirety has enormous artistic and urban planning value of a kind found only rarely outside of Wiesbaden.
