The most eye-catching building on Luisenplatz is the "Alte Münze," the former Royal Mint of the Duchy of Nassau. The Building Officer Johann Eberhard Philipp Wolf built it along with the House of Pedagogy (Pädagogium) across the square. Because the accent is on the plain, cubical and elongated structure underscored by clear lines, the "Alte Münze" represents a pivotal example of the period of late Classicism in Wiesbaden.
