The community of the Old Catholic Church was founded in 1871. While the community members were able to use the St. Bonifatius Church from 1876, in 1898 it was finally possible for them to have their own church built under the supervision of the architect Max Schröder. The house of prayer built in Schwalbacher Straße in the historicising pointed arch style was consecrated in 1900.
