Adelheidstraße
In Adelheidstraße the urban planning is reflected in the buildings' façades. The northern side of the street, created at the southern end of the city centre between 1856 and 1868, shows in its buildings lovely examples of "Romantic Historicism".
When in the 1870s the decision was reached to expand the city southwards, the buildings on the opposing southern were built in the style of "strict Historicism".
In political terms, the northern side is more "Nassau" and the southern side is more "Prussia" (in 1866, the Duchy of Nassau became a province of Prussia).
